Open play is how you start
Most clubs and parks run open play sessions where you rotate through games. You do not need a partner. Arrive, put your paddle in the queue, and play the next game.
Gear is cheap to start
A basic paddle and court shoes are enough. Borrow before buying, and do not spend on a premium paddle until you know your grip and style.
Etiquette
Call your own faults, call the score before serving, retrieve stray balls between points, and rotate off when the session is busy.
